Removing spots and blemishes is a very destructive process. One of the safest ways to clean up a photo/image is to use AcuClean. First select the objects or objects with the Lasso Tool etc., then apply the filter. This restricts the destructive nature of the filter to where you want it applied. Once you have initialized AcuClean the settings remain in force until you restart the parent program. This means you can use the Lasso Tool to select another area and reapply the filter using a key command ("Ctrl F" for Photoshop or PhotoPaint, "Ctrl Y" for Paint Shop Pro etc.) without opening the filter again.
